PhilosophyOver the years we've discovered that business seems to work best when it's rooted in meeting the real needs of clients at a fair price. So we always try to take a step back and offer clients a solution that is going to be good business for them. We find that out of this mutual trust and commitment naturally develops. Result: a long standing win-win situation where the client is empowered to use the web in pursuit of their aims and we have the satisfaction of a happy client (who also pays on time!). We are not precious about our technology or know-how (we are building on the shoulders of many others anyway). This means we are happy to work with clients where they have related web or design expertise in house. We are about empowering not being parochial and protective. Our best projects tend to work this way. We highly value relationships - after all what's the point in doing business if you can't do it with people you 'know, like and trust'? Business is not always easy, there are many pressures, but together great things are possible. BackgroundBathcomms have been helping our clients make the most of the Internet since 1997. The company was started by Steve Sherwin who after a 'half career' in the Royal Navy as an electronics and electrical engineer, had the conviction that Bath would have plenty of good things it would want to communicate via the Internet. In 2002 Bathcomms joined the Bath Circus chapter of Business Network International (BNI) which has proved to be an excellent business development environment. Surrounded by it's 'givers gain' philosophy and the skills, expertise and encouragement of a fine group of like minded local businesses Bathcomms has thrived. In 2003 mature content management system technology from the Open Source software stable became available and we soon realised we had a very powerful tool kit to bring content management-capable websites 'to the masses'. At that time we decided the Mambo project was the most suitable for our clients. In turn Mambo spawned Joomla! and we've not looked back since. As of April 07 we've built over 20 Joomla! websites with more on the stocks. Our PeopleSteve leads the business ably assisted by web designers and application developers Peter and Simon. On the website 'look and feel' front we have up and coming graphics designer AG. Between us we have degrees in maths, electronics and electrical engineering, computer science and a masters in data communications. For the technically aware, our underlying skill sets include:
AssociatesAlong the way we have built up business relationships with many accomplished local and further flung folk. These are a vital underpinning and source of inspiration for what we do (see our associates page). You won't be surprised to hear too that we 'know, like and trust' them! InfrastructureWe administer our own web server and are able to provide reliable and flexible web hosting and e-mail packages to our clients. In this we are served excellently with ISP backup expertise by our 'upstream' internet service provider Wyre Compute, a go-ahead and dependable outfit with all the usual secure datacentre facilities and high speed connections to the internet. Thanks to their friendly efficiency and expertise we've cracked many a technical challenge over the years.
